New sequence of symbols
In the interest of a uniform global practice, the International Association for Textile Care Labelling (GINETEX) has decided in future to list the sequence of symbols on care labels according to consumer habits (instead of trade mark protection). As a result, the drying symbol (tumbler) will move forward from fifth to third place. This change will take effect in mid-2006.
The industry and textile trade will be allowed an eighteen months transitional period, i.e. until the end of 2007, to make the conversion.
The decision taken by GINETEX is connected with the revision of the ISO 3758:2005 standard on care labelling.
New technologies and consumer trends are creating a repeated need to adapt the care labelling system. Old practices are disappearing and new ones appearing! GINETEX is making constant endeavours to adapt care labelling constantly to the latest technical and ecological trends while still respecting its underlying principles.
